ARTISOFT ANNOUNCES NEW CENTRAL STATION FOR LANS
Provides Laptop and Printer Connections to Network
(TUCSON, Ariz--May 20, 1991)--Artisoft announced today the
introduction of a new multi-port hardware device for local area
network communications called Central Station. It will allow a
laptop and two printers to be connected anywhere on an LANtastic or
Novell ethernet network running thin coax or twisted-pair ethernet
cabling. Central Station is scheduled to ship by mid-August but the
price has not yet been announced.
Artisoft's Central Station is compatible with LANtastic or Novell
ethernet networks. It offers a serial or parallel network connection
for a laptop and can be attached anywhere on the network to either
thin or twisted-pair ethernet cabling. Central Station has one
parallel and two serial ports available for remote and/or local
printing while simultaneously connecting a laptop to the network.
"Central Station is the ideal slotless solution for laptop and
printer connections to a network," said Jack Schoof, Artisoft's
President and CEO. "It exceed the benefits of combining several
existing products at a fraction of the price."
Enhancement modules on PEROM (programmable erasable ROM) diskettes
will be available in the future for Central Station to provide
additional unique and innovative connectivity solutions.
Artisoft offers a full line of low-cost, award-winning software and
hardware for local area network communications.
